SIN Removal Process +



I have transposed this model from two other environments where I serve. What is interesting about this model is how it was applied in two different environments.

Covenant Hospice

I understand why the use of this tool and it is a valuable tool for diagnosing where others are with their struggle. 

I took a tool designed to diagnose others, re-engineer it, then apply it to myself. How cool is that? It is almost as crazy as someone reading a self-help book and diagnosing many other's conditions. Duh!

A tool that I can use to help me… is a good tool.

Anyway… This tool will be used to help me determine where I am with many of my struggles. The beauty of this tool? It can be effectively used to help a murderer or someone that can not control their desire to eat honey-buns. 

If I can identify where I am with my SIN… then I can continue onward through to freedom!

Pushing through'em one at a time.

In-depth Thoughts

I have listened to people that can quote scripture. These people can recite entire passages and books of the bible. They are spectacular reciters akin to a recorded message. 

This reminds me of those individuals that would take scripture, write it on a piece of paper, and put that piece of paper in a box strapped to their forehead. It is amazing how we can follow the letter of the law, even working this methodology for the purpose the pursuing grace. There is no list! There is no outline for receiving grace. There is no amount of work that we could do in the hopes that we would be worthy of grace. 

Grace is free for the taking, yet it requires more than following a list or guideline. It requires application to my life. It requires transformation of my mind and not because I can quote scriptures.

The scriptures I can quote have come at great pain to me. They have discomforted and aggravated me. I have become internally chaffed and externally rebellious to the verses that really rub me raw. In short, when I become so enraged by the verse that confronts me, calling me to change, is when the verse and I become one.

What verses do I know? I know the ones that pissed me off at one time. I know the verses that have caused me great pain and anguish; directly tied to something in my life that I have had to overcome. 

You want to know what verses or sections of the bible I know by heart? It is the ones that have caused the greatest pain during my transformation. If I quote it… You can be assured that I have suffered some backlash because of what I discovered through the verse.

This reminds me of something I learned from Hospice and Prison ministry. It is a process for healing. This pertains to incarcerated, terminal people, and many other people including me.

I am held prisoner to some sin. If I do not confront that sin, then I will live in denial. This denial will then lead to me retaining the sin and perpetuating the bondage to me for this sin that I do not choose to confront.

When I choose to confront what has been presented to me, I typically will become angered. This anger is a clear sign to me that I have an issue and it was just touched. 

As I progress from anger, I lead into bargaining. This is another facet of the transformation. Rather than changing, I search for ways to remain in my current position by surrendering or compromising other areas of my life.

When I discover that bargaining is not helping and I have surrendered other areas that created additional pains, then I fall into depression. At this point, I am totally lost. My solutions are few.

This is when I have come to the point where I accept what has been pointed out. I start making changes by removing this issue that has kept me in bondage. I am taking pro-active measures to elevate myself above this bondage. The pain of change is minimal at this point cause the pain to stay is greater.

I have changed. The bondage that once held me has been lifted. I am free from that bondage. 

Full Circle
Reciting bible verses is quite enjoyable. Changing my life and applying the verse to my life is the pain. There needs to be more application and less memorization. 

Memorization of scripture is a by-product of the application of scripture to my life.
